Harriman State Park is located in Island Park and spans more than 11,000 acres of scenic eastern Idaho landscape. Once part of a historic railroad ranch retreat, the park today preserves both natural beauty and a fascinating glimpse into Idaho’s past.
Visitors can explore a number of beautifully maintained historic buildings, including the original ranch homes and outbuildings. Inside, many are carefully staged with period furnishings and artifacts, offering an authentic look at life during the early 1900s when prominent railroad families spent their summers here.
The park also features an extensive trail system ideal for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography. Trails wind through open meadows, lodgepole pine forests, and along the Henrys Fork of the Snake River. It’s common to see elk, moose, sandhill cranes, trumpeter swans, and a variety of other wildlife throughout the seasons.
Whether you’re interested in history, quiet nature walks, or simply experiencing one of Idaho’s most peaceful landscapes, Harriman State Park offers a memorable and immersive outdoor experience.
