Bloomington Lake Hike
Tucked high in the Bear River Range near the Idaho–Utah border, Bloomington Lake is one of those rare alpine destinations that offers spectacular scenery without a strenuous hike.
You can take a scenic drive on a well-maintained dirt road to the Bloomington Lake Trailhead, making the journey itself part of the experience. From there, the trail is relatively flat and very approachable, covering just 1.6 miles round trip. This makes it an excellent outing for families, including young kids, or anyone looking for a relaxing day outdoors without a demanding climb.
Once you reach the lake, you’ll find a peaceful alpine setting surrounded by dramatic limestone cliffs and evergreen forest. The clear, cool waters are perfect for a refreshing swim on a warm summer day, and anglers can enjoy casting a line while taking in the quiet mountain atmosphere. There are also plenty of great spots along the shoreline for a picnic, allowing you to slow down and fully enjoy the setting.
Bloomington Lake is a truly spectacular place that combines easy access with classic high-mountain beauty, making it one of southeastern Idaho’s most rewarding and family-friendly alpine hikes.
